The Great Wall
This six mile hike over stone paths, climbing up, through and down from 50 turrets (100 steps up to each turret and 100 steps back down) was breathtaking, exhausting, and a once in a lifetime personal achievement. It is doubtful that Garry and I would have accomplished this challenging hike had it not been for our daughter’s optimistic cheers starting around mile five and rousing enthusiasm right to the end!
Highlights include:
-Viewing the tops of pristine forests
-Hearing echoing conversations of villagers floating across the mountains
-Experiencing the distinct quality of the silence
-Reflecting upon the brilliant feat of building a 4,000 mile long wall
